Guide for the Care of your Quena.-

Hi dear Flutelovers, today I want to share with you this some practical tips for the care and maintenance of your beautiful Andean Wind Instrument and thus preserve its sound quality.

Perform a periodic Cleaning:
To begin with, it is important to periodically clean your Flute to remove any dust and dirt that may accumulate inside and out as this also affects its sound quality.
Use a "bottle cleaning brush" to remove dust from the inside, these come in various sizes, if you have doubts take a look at this YouTube video ➡ How to Clean my Quena and if you need to make a "Cleaning Wand" with simple materials, in this video explain how ➡ How to make a Clean Wand

Why Use Oil to Lubricate your Quena:
Our Bambo flute is alive and behaves like our skin:
When it's hydrated its looks healthy and beautiful.
Oils help moisturize your wind instrument and protect it from dryness and cracking. These penetrate deeply into the wood, helping to prevent cracks and prevent splitting.

What oils to use:
* Almond oil is the most recommended because it has no smell.
* Coconut oil (if you are allergic to Almonds this is a very good option)
* Extra virgin Olive oil, you can find it in any supermarket.

*I recommend that you do not apply Oil to a recently played Flute* because it will have moisture, it is preferable to let it evaporate first for a few hours.
Apply oil to the inside of the Quena and then over the entire surface. In this video I explain how to do it...
After lubricating it, let it absorb for a few hours so that it penetrates well into all the wood (I leave it overnight) and the next day I clean the excess with a dry cloth as necessary.

How to Store my Quena:
When you are not using your Quena, be sure to store it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and humidity. This will help prevent damage caused by extreme changes in temperature and humidity.
Store it without a cover so it can breathe and thus avoid the appearance of fungus.

If you follow these simple tips for caring for your Quena and use these oils regularly, this beautiful wind instrument will remain in excellent condition and provide you with years of musical joy.
